This barn has moved around a bit over its 100+ year history

There is some evidence that the barn was originally at the corner of 3 Street and 4 Avenue South where it was used by Farmer’s Feed Stable. By 1912, James Aird was listed as the proprietor of Farmers’ Feed Stables.

Whether the barn was originally at 404 3 Avenue South, or not, by 1913, it was located behind Aird’s house at 1304 6 Avenue South. The Aird House still sits at the corner of 13 Street and 6 Avenue South and is today the Cutting Company (we did a previous article on the Aird House).

But while the Aird House remains on its original location, the barn was moved in 1999 to 1280 4 Avenue South and renovated/enlarged into an apartment called the Carriage House.

The photograph is from 1980 and shows the barn at its 13 Street and 6 Avenue South location. The photograph is part of the Lethbridge Landmarks Photograph Collection and was taken during the 1980 Historic Survey.
