The Royal Fruit Store opened at 616 3 Avenue South (in the former Leys & Co. location) in March 1947.

In the 4 March 1947 Lethbridge Herald advertisement, Yeo Quong announced that the store would carry “groceries, confectionery, fresh fruit and vegetables in season”. Delivery was promised twice daily at 10:30 am and 4 pm. It was also noted that Mr. Quong was no longer associated with the Rex Fruit Store.

The business stayed in operation at that location for the next thirty years, closing in 1977 when Yeo and Annie Quong announced their retirement and thanked their customers and friends for their support and friendship.

Yeo Quong passed away in 1982 at the age of 75. He had come to Canada from China in 1922, going first to Swift Current before coming to Lethbridge in 1937.

Annie Quong passed away in 1994 at the age of 78. She was born in Cranbrook.
